1. Just as the Scribes and the Pharisees tried to nitpick Jesus’ doctrine and teachings so do you.

Jesus taught Moral Law. He taught us how to build a perfect world. If we all actually listened to what he was saying, and followed through, this truly could be a perfect world. Our free will to sin (and take the easy way out) is what ruins our chances of this ever happening.

George Bush is helping us realize this Moral Law. He is not a perfect man as are none of us. I will admit that it is hard to see Moral Law in the war in Iraq but he has freed those people. If you can see that you can realize that there is good to this war. I admit also that, like the man, this war is far from perfect but what is perfect? Can Kerry truly follow through and finish this war? Would he have been brave enough to fight it in the first place? None of us truly know this as he has never been in this position. We just hope that what he says is true. (Who fully trusts politician?)

Bush is also helping fight the war for right-to-life (something Kerry is drastically opposing). If we start devaluing life where does it end? It may seem crazy but it could come down to us. One day we could be judged for how valuable (or how worthy we are of life). If someone else decided that for us how would that make you feel? The only way to stop that from every happening is to say that ALL life is valuable and never give anyone the right to decide otherwise.

I hope that everyone takes this to heart and realizes that we all impact one another in our thoughts, words, and deeds.

    God Bless you all.

  2. J.M.J….

Your statement is based on the concept that the war itself is justified, that Iraq has WMD, and that Bush is doing anything even remotely presidential. Your statements on Jesus are well-taken. If we lived in a perfect world and did not sin, no crime or war would exist. But we do not. We live in a world where personal gain is the fundamental cause for most all involvement, beit on a personal level or a global level. This war is a personal involvement issue with our President, who is perfectly supporting your point that free will to sin is ruining our chances of a perfect world. Here is a link: <a href="http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/election2004/9980622.htm?1c" target="_blank">http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/election2004/9980622.htm?1c</a> just to check the facts. While I would never suggest that Bush is a false prophet, I WILL state that he is using lies and deception to make us believe that what he is doing is right. I won’t stand for that.

  3. Don’t forget that Jesus’ own top disciple lied about knowing him, three times! If he couldn’t inspire loyalty in his closest supporters, how could we trust him as Commander-in-Chief?

  4. To J.M.J.

Would Kerry have been brave enough to fight this war? He was brave enough to serve in Vietnam, while Bush wasn’t man enough to show up for National Guard duty…

  5. Also, anytime that Jesus gained a little momentum through performing miracles (e.g. walking on water, raising the dead, etc.) Karl Rove would raise the Terror Alert Level/Color to bump up Bush’s numbers.

  6. Thing is … those are pretty fair critiques of Jesus. I mean, seriously: turn the other cheek? Don’t resist evil? WTF??

  7. jmj–you seem like a right wing nut job–are you serious about this war in Iraq is justified?Sadam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11. It was Osama bin laden–he’s from afganistan. Our being in Iraq is rediculous. When Japan attacked pearl harbor should we have responded by attacking China. Why isn’t our main focus on getting the man who was behind the attack? Bush sucks and so do you.

  8. right on mblp! I’ve tried to talk to these "conservitives"(who have spent more of our money than any democrat ever dreamed!) but they have a slanted veiw on any topic. Iraq,Iraq.blah..blah..blah..Our guys are still dying in afganistan and we have eyes in the sky that can read a man’s face from space but do we use them? we could find a flea on a dog if we really wanted to. we know what we have with W, seems time for a change. p.s. right to life? only if you don’t have dark skin and worship allah.

  9. Ok, Good Points.

There are some assumptions being made that aren’t true.

Originally I did not approve of the war but I don’t feel as bad about it now as I did then. Does no one agree that both the Iraqis and the people of Afghanistan are free (or at least better off than before)? And I do not fully approve of all that Bush has done. No Man is perfect only God.

I do however approve more of Bush than of Kerry (I consider him the better of 2 evils). I am not racist as someone implied. All deserve the right to life no matter what color, race, or creed (or age or fetal development).

And Yes, Jesus’ most important disciple did deny him. This was not a mistake. Jesus knows all things (Past, Present, and Future). Jesus told Peter the night before that he would deny him. This is simply an acknowledgement from the powers above that we are human and as such we are fickle. None of us is perfect (not even Peter). It is also to show us that we are all sinners. It is not that we sin that makes us evil (for that is human nature) it is that we do not regret it or ask for forgiveness afterwards. Peter was sorry, so should we be.

No one can deny that Bush’s reasons for going to war were questionable. I’m trying to give him some of the benefit of the doubt as from what I’ve heard the intelligence he was given was incorrect. I’m not here to debate this particular point because, as I said above, I did not original agree with this war. It is Moral Law that says we should not start fights (wars) with others. I am, however, an optimist and I like to see the good in things. The good in this is that we have helped liberate people who were oppressed.

It sounds, however, that Kerry does not want to follow through and finish this war off. Bringing our troops home is indeed noble but to sacrifice so many to this point and then let it all go seems wrong to me.

Personally (off topic) I can’t vote for someone who says that abortions and gay marriages are ok. I have nothing against gay people but the act of being gay, and what it entails, is wrong. God created Adam and Eve – Not Adam and Bruce. We were created this way for a reason. Not so that we could have sex with anyone and everyone and spread diseases. And I’m not saying that all gay people are like this either but Moral Law says that this is wrong. It is done for pleasure not for purpose. Pleasure is a sin of the flesh. I’m sorry I sound like an extremist but I truly am not. I just believe in morals. Is it wrong to be moral?

I say nothing out of hate, only out of sorrow. We could do so much to make this a better world but often we only think of ourselves (myself included).

    God Bless.

  10. So, if Jesus knows all things, past, present and future, as you have stated, then what’s the big deal? Our entire existence is based on pre-destiny, and don’t tell me that Gawd gave us a free will, which is so darn hypocritical…. just like the current administration and their justification for this so-called "War on Terrorism". Hmmm… the Axis of Evil is in our own backyard!!!!!

  11. JMJ, sweetheart !

What are you talking about ?

    God is a concept.

100000 iraqis dead, those are at last free !

    Oil, oil, oil.

Iraqis are free now to get fat… if they found food.

    Depleted uranium.

A foetus is not a human being.

An happy taxpayer is a human being.

    Moral law ? What’s that ? Propaganda !

Learn another language, read foreign news and know what is happening in the world.

  12. JMJ, I would suggest you look up the term "cognitive dissonance", because that is exactly what is happening to you right now (and to other so called right wing Christians who do not follow the teachings of Jesus.) The term means that you start off believing two things very strongly, then when a third thing you can see is true refutes one of the things you believe, you try to say well, I never really believed that first thing, what I really believed was… The two truths being: 1) Jesus is God, and he teaches us how to live, and 2) George Bush also believes that Jesus is God and teaches us how to live. Now when you saw this right-on parody of the hypocrisy of Bush and his cronies (that he does not in fact believe in or live the teachings of Jesus), you had to rearrange your own core beliefs in order to not be wrong.

So you conveniently state that Jesus only teaches for a "perfect world." Stop talking yourself out of seeing the truth. First of all, Jesus taught us how we should live. Period. If we all follow his teachings, then life would be so much nicer, wouldn’t you say. But as long as someone is treating people poorly, in ways Jesus told us not to, such as judging them, not being kind to them, not having compassion, etc., then this world is not so nice. So your argument is circular: We can only live like this in a perfect world, but the world can never be perfect because we will never live like this. Believe me, JMJ, there are plenty of true Christians who (try to) follow Jesus’ teachings, even though the world is not perfect.

We can stop pretending, JMJ, that you support Bush’s war, or economic policies or domestic agenda. The fact is clearly that the only reason you support Bush is because he supports ending abortion rights for women, and he is against gay marriage. Those are your issues that you believe are what make Bush a true Christian and therefore your leader. Isn’t that right?

Bush has been in office for 4 years. There is a majority GOP Supreme Court. There is a majority GOP Congress. Now the question is: if they wanted to outlaw abortion and gay marriage so much, why haven’t they done it? Ever wonder about that, JMJ? The reason is that they use these "issues" to get gullibles like you to vote for them year in and year out, meanwhile your own life remains in the toilet. You agree to give the rich tax breaks and corporate welfare, while more of your income goes to the government, and you work more and get paid less. You agree to pay for wars and send your children to die in them, so that they can get richer off foreign oil and government contracts. You agree to privatize/get rid of programs that benefit your friends and family, so that the rich can have more ways to exploit your lot and get even richer at your expense. And what do you have to show for it, JMJ? Empty promises. That’s what. Can’t you see that?

Also, as an aside, as you already stated, we are all sinners. Just like Peter (the liar). What makes one sin worse than another in God’s eyes? Judge not, lest you be judged, is all I’m saying, JMJ.

  13. Dar JMJ,

ABORTION which you oppose, Has risen during Bush’s time in office. If you are interested in decreasing abortion rates, VOTE for Democrats.

    It’s really simple.

When the Economy is in the Toilet…

Poor and soon to be poor folk realize they can’t afford a kid.

    Crime increases.

It’s Astonishing how many people fail to realize when it comes to economics, Democrats have the market cornered. Why is that. Maybe because it’s really true: When EVERYONE has a chance, EVERYONE Benefits.

I don’t know about you all, but I am SICK AND TIRED of Republican GREED, selfishness, lies, hypocrisy, and down right MEAN SPIRITEDNESS.

Maslow stated when people have their basic needs met, they work on self actualization. Conservatives in their Drive of so called everyone being responsible for themselves, forget basic Humanitarian aspects. They forget that if a person is nurtured, they have a better chance of succeeding and being a valuable part of the community.

Bush has LIED so many times, anyone supporting him is either woefully ignorant, blind, or feels LYING justifies the means.

And as My Mama told me, LYING IS WRONG. W is WRONG.

I may not like Kerry, but at least I know I won’t be voting for a LYING SAD SACK whose only interest is himself and power.

OH and lest the message got lost….

ABORTION HAS RISEN DURING BUSH’S REIGN OF TERROR. And surprise surprise it went DOWN DURING CLINTON’S.

  14. Well, usually i try to stay out of politics as a rule, what most people thing never quite seems to make an impact at voting time or otherwise. I have just this to say, If President Bush is not re-elected to office we may stand to pay a high price as Americans. Some say that John Kerry was "brave enough to serve in vietnam", well he was brave enought to cry his way out of that war with his medals and whatnot right into the offices of the communist korean goverment and back stab all of his service mates. I do not consider that brave. George Bush did not serve in the war, yes, the particular plane that he was trained to fly was called out of service by the government, blame them. To say that President Bush is weak and a deserter, President George W. Bush has done something in my lifetime that no other President had the balls to do, stand up for America. Show those terrorists, which if you think that 9/11 was the first terrorist attack on American soild you are sadly mistaken, that you just cannot F**K with Americans because we will hand you your ass!! President Bush made the right decision in the War on Terrorism and i am glad. What would have to happen to America for anyone to realize that someone has to do something? So to all you Kerry supporters, if John Kerry is elected to office you may as well start rethinking your political designation because communism is comming to America if Kerry is elected president. More 9/11 attacks will come to American Soil. President George W. Bush has started a war to insure our freedom and to allow us to continue with our American lifestyle. God Bless George Bush!!!!!!!

  15. Hey J.R.E.~

Is your comment based on what you have read or from experience? Have you ever been in a conflict where your enemy is looking down your throat with an m-16? Have you ever looked into an enemies eyes filled with hatred toward another being they don’t even know? Have you ever had to pull the trigger knowing that you may be killing a child’s father? Have you ever had to dodge bullets, explosives and boobie traps? If not, don’t be so quick to judge. Kerry served his country on front line battle fields, not un-like George who should have kept his cheerleader pom poms in hand through his AWOL service records, or Cheney who led most with FIVE draft deferments to get out of Vietnam. Hey, there’s another brave one that shoots his mouth off, but wants others to do his dirty deeds. The only person on Bush’s staff that has ever been in active combat is Powell, so the rest of the lot really should not have anything to say about it. Oh heck, let’s just send our kids around the world to be killed just to satisfy a chosen few that can think of nothing else but their selfish & greedy corporate fascism.

  16. "I will put my laws in their minds so they will understand them, and I will write them on their hearts so they will obey them" (Hebrews 8:10)

"Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Jesus Christ, but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting" (Romans 16:17 -18).

"Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves can break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven . . . Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be. " (Matthew 6:19-21)

"Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. " (Psalm 1:1)

"Nevertheless, many, even among the authorities, believed in him (Jesus), but because of the Pharisees they did not acknowledge it openly in order not to be expelled from the synagogue. For they preferred human praise to the glory of God." (John 12:42-43)

If you can vote for Kerry without your choice weighing heavily on your conscience and heart, you have bigger things to worry about than your job, taxes and healthcare.

The consciences of Kerry supporters are already getting to them. They’re extremely defensive, augmentative, belligerent and violent. Vandalism by Kerry supporters is extremely high and out of control. But this is expected when your mind is fighting with your heart, and when your need to be right begins to outweigh the truth.

God Bless all of you. And may God help us all.

  17. For years our "Bomb the Arabs and Steal Their Oil" bumper stickers have gone unheeded. That is until George came along. The Middle East has been a constant irritation to us Billionaires for decades. Finally we’ve gone in and taken control. WMD, human rights, whatever. We’ve got the oil and that means serious money. Dead U.S. soldiers, dead Iraqis, enraged Muslim world, increased terrorist threats? As long as our profit margins are healthy, we’ll make it through.

    Billionaires for Bush: http://billionairesforbush.com/index.php

    A little reality please?

  18. Ok look, I think you all have certain good points. some more than others. However I dont agree with this pages message all together. I think its a straight up example of blastphamy. And Oceano, Before you advise someone to learn another language, I suggest that you first learn your own. "Feotus" is actually "fetus" to be exact. A fetus is not a human being? So how about your children, Assuming you have children? Do you not gow to love them before they are born. And can you honestly look at that beautiful five year old girl or boy and say that you couldnt care less if they had been born or not? I would hope not. And the statement that God is a cocept is your opinion. And mine is that on judgement day you will really wish you had belived in your maker and his son. So before you offend people you should really hit spellcheck. Thats pretty bad coming from a 16 year old huh?

  19. If I were ever in a situation where a woman would ask for my advice on whether to have an abortion or not, I would encourage her not to abort, however there are circumstances when an abortion maybe the only logical option. Morally, it is not the right thing to do.

At the same time, conservatives do not oppose the death penalty, so are you really pro-life? And what about war? Do Christians endorse war? Isn’t war and the death penalty morally wrong too? Regardless of whether there’s been a Democrat of a Republicn in the Whitehouse over that past 40 years, what has actually changed legislatively on this issue. That’s right, very little! Wouldn’t you’re cause be better served if you would educate rather than trying to legislate? Wake up! You’re wasting your vote! The same thing has been happening on the gun issue too!

Incidently the number of abortions during Bush’s term have risen due to the economic climate and Americans vision for the future. Abortions during the Clinton presidency were declining.

Politics is all about access to money and opportunity.

    Good Luck

  20. "Aren’t the people of Iraq and Afghanstan now free?"

The naivety is staggering… they have puppet governments who have been very friendly to U.S. economic visions (we installed them after all) by which they sell off all of their companies and state assets to international (mostly coalition) companies. They have a tax and trade structure designed by these puppet regimes to enrich those puppets who play the game, and those global "entrepreneurs" who buy their countries out from under them before they even get a chance to vote. We have seen up to 100,000 Iraqis killed in the conflict – half women and children. The few Iraqis who want to resist this pillaging by the U.S. interests are labeled insurgents and terrorists, and provide perfect excuses for delaying elections and continuing bombing of towns and churches, by which most of these civilian casualties are racked up.

How can anyone honestly tell themselves we are helping the Iraqis and Afghans, or any other Arab people? Let’s all realize that this (mis)adventure is all for our own interests, not theirs. Then we must ask – is it serving to curb terrorism? Not likely – most security and intelligence experts agree that this conflict is likely increasing the recruiting power of al Queda and similar anti-western groups. It IS making some of our companies rich, largely ones that have very close ties to the Bush-Cheney administration. Our security is not their concern, people.

Wake up America. Bush is not the only problem, and Kerry is no magical solution. We need to resist the urge to exploitatively impose our cultures, economics, and politics on other less fortunate peoples. We’ve been doing this for centuries, we keep getting caught looking like viscious thugs (Native Americans, slavery, Central America, Southeast Asia, etc. etc.) but only change our ways when there is no other recourse. That time will be coming soon for us again with the Islamic world. I can see why Bush doesn’t want Americans to be subject to Geneva war crimes laws, because we fully intend to keep committing war crimes until we are forced to stop. I feel sick that our people won’t stop this behavior because it is wrong, not because we get caught doing it.

  21. Just wanted to say, in response to Revenant…

I’m not at all religious, but Amen to that. Never a truer word spoken.

The sooner the US stops acting like fear-stricken cultural white-out the better. It’s a funny, I don’t think I’ve ever met an American that wasn’t a nice person, but put you all together and it’s hard to imagine a more globally unpleasant or destructive nation.

  22. Good on ya’ for your comments to Oceano, about using spellcheck, but may I suggest you check yourself before hitting the send button. "BLASTPHAMY" is spelled "blasphemy", and only if you are using it as a noun. Otherwise, you should use blaspheme.

  23. Hey all,

There seems to be quite a bit of the "all Christians are by definition Republicans" going on. Just know that all us Christians don’t have the wool pulled over our eyes. I’m one, and I feel that Bush’s stances are in direct conflict with the message of Jesus, and that Bush is using Christianity to further his selfish goals, and he, and those who buy into the ‘christian culture’ are cheapening Christ’s message. They whitewash the secular, and call it "christian" and they take the christian message and water it down to make it go down easier. I would get all into quoting scripture, but arguing doesn’t do anything. If you really want you can email me (especially if you are JMJ) [email protected]. You can also email me if you still haven’t gotten a Gmail, and you want one.

"The only people on earth who don’t believe that Christ and his message were non-violent are Christians" – Mahatma Gandhi

  24. Boy you people look too deeply. This is just a take on re-interpretation which just shows how you can take anything and make it suits your own needs. Also it is just funny for the comparison. Anything else is not there. Mad magazine could have run this article featuring anyone other than George Bush – the fact George Bush is unsubtely inept at his job only makes this even funnier than it is already.
