Last weekend, I ran the Scotland Run 10k in the park. 5,718 people turned out in the drizzling cold, near Scottish weather morning, bagpipers played, running kilts worn, good times had. I had been patiently waiting for the race photos to be published so I could, in a tasteful and subtle manner, show off regarding my blistering pace here on the blog.
And with training I was able to chop six full minutes off last year’s time and beat even my aggressive goal times.
Then, wouldn’t you know it, the very first picture available to purchase from the race includes 56 year old Joe Kvilhaug finishing directly in front of me. At least he seemed to have given it his all by the look on his face.
The cosmos have a funny way of correcting for hubris don’t they?
